Reflexology (in person only)
"Reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands and feet which correspond to every part, gland, organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and promotes the natural function of the related areas of the body, as ell as maintains health."
Foot reflexology is the study and practise of working reflexes in the feet that correspond to other parts of the body. With specific hand and feet techniques, reflexology causes responses (relaxation) in the corresponding parts of the body. The reflexes in the feet are actually reflections of body parts. Their locations and relationships to each other on the feet follow a logical anatomical pattern which closely resembles that of the body itself.
The individual's foot reflex areas reflect the individual's overall state of tension that has resulted from a lifetime of adaption of stress. Stress cues in the feet are a roadmap to the reflexologist. Wherever it is found on a foot, it is a sign that stress and it's affects have begun to accumulate in the corresponding parts of the body. The reflexologist observes the cues of stress and applies pressure techniques to relax the indicated stresses. The goal of the reflexologist is to create a relaxation response keyed to the individual and his or her stress.
The first record of reflexology dates from 2330 BC. Today's methods are based on the work of Dr. William Fitzgerald, who used the term "zone therapy" for pain relief. Reflexology is currently practiced world wide.
One is not required to have a condition to benefit from reflexology, it is a wonderful way to feel better and to reward the body, mind and spirit. Sometimes, a detoxification may occur after the first few sessions, but generally people feel a sense of inner calm, more energy and feet that could dance all night.
